Lisa Diamor Sanchez

I am inspired by the diverse layers of the past hidden beneath layers of paint in our cities and the possibility of change and the vibrancy that change brings.

A background in Psychology helps provide me with an understanding of how powerful the written word can be and why I use it so frequently in my art.

I feel fortunate to be able to spend my time creating art, and that this profession allows me the gift of personal freedom. http://starcreekart.com/Artists.aspx

Shannon Garcia

Enjoy the timeless photographs of Shannon Garcia. Here are some excerpts from an article by National Correspondent, Ernest Gurule who says it all:
If you buy the idea that a picture is worth a thousand words, Denver native, Photographer Shannon Garcia is responsible for something encyclopedic. As a photojournalist, he has documented Denver?s Hispanic history from the late 1970s to the present. He estimates that he has had over a million pictures published.
Garcia has worked in every condition and environment, from crossing the picket lines of the Coors boycott to using soap bubbles and squeaky toys to coax smiles from drooling babies. But in each, ?You go for the expression that tells the story,? he said.

He is modest about his pictures, despite the fact that they are images instantly recognizable from New York to New Delhi. He has seen the lines and creases and emotional highs and lows in the faces of the homeless to the world?s elite such as Sister Mother Theresa, Pope John Paul, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the 14th Dalai Lama.?? He has also photographed every president since George Bush Sr.

?A good photographer does not shoot with his eye as much as his heart,? said Garcia. ?I?ve put the same time and energy into shooting a Nobel Prize winner as I have a baby picture for an immigrant family.?

?I have been on the cutting edge of photography for the last six years. Ten years ago, I would not have dreamed that my photography could be seen worldwide in minutes. I have been involved in launching new websites, web magazines, digital presentations, and producing and editing videos. I have collections on permanent display in the Denver Public Library website. I hold myself to the highest industry standards.
Photographers are now electronic imaging producers.?

Have You Met?.

Pilar Beall; The Artist and Her Work

CHAC member artist Pilar Beall was born in Chinchina, Colombia and as a child would paint and draw. She found herself attracted to geometric shapes and liked to create non-traditional art. At times she worked in clay and made figures which would then be given away as presents.

She studied?biochemistry, business administration, graphic arts with a focus on advertising, and has a degree in industrial engineering.

Pilar is inspired by the images and events of the world. She likes to play with color and form, with abstract, surrealistic vision and perception in a strong and profound context. Her work reflects her sensitive heart and she tries to capture the incidents of life and her country from all angles. It?s at night when she receives visual images and inspiration the most. She uses any appropriate material for the composition of her pieces; employing mannequins, recycled materials, wood, etc.

Since arriving to the United States in November 2008, she has participated in various art exhibitions and has continued studies in art. She is currently studying sculpture at the Art Student?s League of Denver.
